My name is Jason (A.K.A UK Jay) and I'm an emerging street photographer.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, I have trained locally at the DVSA (Dundas Valley School of Art) since 2007 under the tutelage of Peter Karuna (http://peterkaruna.ca/). In 2013 I was nominated and awarded the DVSA's Hope Lee Scholarship for academic and artistic excellence. This past spring I won 3rd place in the fashion category for the prestigious International Color Awards. I have exhibited work locally in Hamilton and hope to continue to grow as a photographer.
My principal interests are the ever changing sites of the typical city street and the moments that lie within. With every street corner you turn you never know what you’re going to see. Everything is unscripted. There are no ‘take two’ moments and these events happen only once... sometimes for a very brief time. It is this sense of spontaneity that I thrive on as a photographer.
The subjects in my photos are not celebrities or paid models. These are regular everyday people who have jobs, families, problems and bills to pay just like you and I. My goal is to try and capture spontaneous moments in the lives of these ordinary people and, in some cases, animals.
I also enjoy various other types of photography but the street is where my heart is.
I hope you enjoy your stay and come back again soon :)
